DENVER - Carmelo Anthony reportedly wants out of Denver, so is the Nuggets superstar selfish, or smart?
It's easy to see how Melo's desire to play in New York could be construed as being selfish. The nuggets have built an organization around him, stuck with him through his off the court problems, and have paid him top dollar.
If he simply leaves it doesn't say much about his loyalty or commitment.
However, the flip side of this is to look at Melo's situation here in Denver. The nuggets just fired their two general managers, and have a maze of authority at the top of the organization -- Chauncey Billups and Kenyon Martin are closer to the end of their careers than the beginning...
So what happens if Melo re-upped, only to have them retire or leave?
I said last week Melo would be crazy to leave Denver for New York---crazy, like a fox.
