Miami Pipeline
14837 N.W. Seventh Ave., Miami, 786/586-8197, www.miamipipeline.com
The Miami Pipeline, the most proactive organization in Miami dedicated to highlighting and nurturing local talent, keeps its Monday-night open mikes roaming from club to club but has now settled at its main offices. Founders DJ Bass and his wife, White Chocolate, are also the proprietors of the popular independent record store Bass-Side Music and Entertainment. There is always a cover charge at the open-mike nights, but for acts that need a quick step up to break into the business, DJ Bass' connections are priceless. Thanks to the record business and his own reputation, Bass can get the ear of people such as Lil Jon and Jadakiss and is able to have Luke Campbell or Trick Daddy and top local-radio DJs show up at a Pipeline meeting at a moment's notice. For a new artist, the Pipeline is a networking dream.
