Mat Garcia anchors the weekend edition of the award winning
News2 at Nine.
Born in Denver, Mat is glad to be back in his native City.
Mat joined the News2 team from WPIX in New York City where he was a fill-in anchor and lead reporter for the morning news. There he covered big stories such as the 9/11 Anniversaries, the U.N. debate leading to the Iraq War, and the 2004 Republican Convention. Mat has also worked as a weekend morning anchor/reporter at WMAQ-NBC in Chicago, IL, and has also worked in Washington, Texas, and New Mexico.
Mat graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He is happily married and has three children, including twins.
