Fort Hood Shooter is NOT Dead
A U.S. Army spokesman says the Fort Hood shootings suspect is alive and was not killed by authorities responding to the attack.

Lt. Gen. Bob Cone also says the death toll from the attack remains 12 after another victim died.

Authorities said immediately after Thursday's attack that they had killed the suspected shooter. But Cone now says the suspected shooter is alive and stable condition.

Reports say as many as twelve people have been killed and about 30 more hurt following a shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, near Killeen. At least one victim was a civilian police officer, according to the latest reports.

The U.S. Army says 12 have died and 30 were wounded in two shootings at the base. There were two shootings, and at least more than one shooter. The weapons used were handguns.The motive is unknown.

Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Banks says the shootings began around 1:30pm at the post's Soldier Readiness Processing Center.

The shooters were apparently wearing military uniforms, according to MSNBC. There were reportedly two gunmen, one of which has been captured. The other is said to be loose on the sprawling Fort Hood grounds. Local station KCEN is reporting there may be a third gunman; that has not been officially confirmed.

A soldier inside the post says his unit was called for 100% attainment and that all units are being called to be accounted for and identified.

AP is reporting the President Obama has been notified of the shooting. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says the President is being updated as details about the shooting become available.
