DENVER - An armed man who claimed he was a SWAT paramedic was formally charged on Friday for firearms violations, officials said.
On August 17, Wayne Michael Thornton dressed up in a SWAT uniform and carried a semi-automatic firearm to an RTD facility at 901 S. Broadway in Denver.
The 22-year-old was approached by security personnel and claimed to be a SWAT paramedic working for a local company, according to an arrest affidavit.
Further investigation led to his arrest the next day.
Thornton was charged with having a firearm in a public transportation facility and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
He was released from custody on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court September 2.
