The Douglas County Sheriff's department arrested a teen over the weekend on suspicion of breaking into the home of a young girl and sexually assaulting her earlier this month.

Tyler A. Sanchez, 19, was arrested Saturday in front of his parents' home in the north end of unincorporated Douglas County.

Officers were called to the Stonegate subdivision after midnight Friday, July 17, on reports of a prowler. Following a lead on a license plate, officers went to Sanchez's home and found him sitting in a vehicle outside his parent's home where he was living.

Sanchez was taken into custody and booked into jail on the charge of 2nd Deg Trespassing and Probation Violation.

On Saturday, July 18, detectives confirmed that Sanchez was the suspect involved in the burglary/sexual assault that occurred in Stonegate on 7/10/09.

Sanchez was booked on charges of:
  • First Degree Burglary
  • Sexual Assault of a Child
  • Unlawful Sexual Contact
Sanchez has a criminal history that involves felony criminal mischief which he is currently on probation for, along with a Restraining Order Violation involving the use of alcohol.

"I give a huge amount of thanks to all those involved in this case, both from the Sheriff's Office and the Parker Police Department," stated Sheriff David A Weaver. "I hope that the residents of Stonegate feel a lot safer knowing that an arrest has been made and that someone will be held accountable for what occurred."

Sanchez is being held on $1M bond.
