DENVER, COLO.—
The pattern of weather remains the same for Thursday as the last few days... which means there is a chance of severe storms developing Thursday along the Front Range and Eastern Plains of Colorado.Another round of severe weather pounded Northern Colorado and spawned at least two tornadoes, damaging hail storms, and drenching rain Wednesday.
The biggest problems were along I-76 near Roggen where inches of hail covered the highway and brought out CDOT plows. But not before two cars spun-out into the grass and mud.
One driver reported a blinding rain before she lost control.
The marble size hail also covered fields making them appear like white blankets on the horizon. "It's disastrous" said a worker at the local farm supply center.
The hail can damage young wheat seedlings and totally wipe out a years crop.
Near Kersey, heavy rain flooded rural county roads and turned intersections into lakes.
But the severe weather wasn't limited to northern Colorado. Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln Counties early in the evening. An employee at Denver International Airport said Frontier Airlines went on "ground hold" around 4:30 p.m. due to lightning at the airport.
