VIDEO: Giant pumpkins drop 13 stories, explode
What do you do with pumpkins that weigh nearly a thousand pounds? They're too big and deformed for jack-o-lanterns. Too gross for pumpkin pie.

So why not lift them 13 stories on a crane, let them go...and see what happens?

That's exactly what FOX 31's Dan Daru did with the help of his friends at Jared's Nursery and Garden Center in Littleton Tuesday morning. Sterling Crane of Arvada provided the crane capable of lifting the humongous gourds 130 feet high.

The first time the crew tried to drop a 900 lb. pumpkin on live TV during Good Day Colorado, it didn't work. It was entertaining anyway. You can watch that clip below. It's labeled "Pumpkin Drop Fail."

The other clip shows the successful attempt. It's complete with two spectacular camera views, and the giant pumpkin becoming an even larger debris field.
