DENVER—
In the car, at the office, around the dinner table, the story of the 6-year-old boy in a wayward balloon is the talk of the town.At first, the community was relieved to learn Falcon Heene was not on board the homemade flying saucer as it raced across the Colorado skies.
"Let's cut to the chaseĀ that father needs to take a polygraph, period," said one caller who phoned into 850 KOA radio.
The suspicion in the community seems to be growing, ever since a CNN interview aired where Falcon Heene was asked why he didn't come out of his hiding place when he heard his parent's calling and the little boy replied, "it was for the show."
Then early Friday morning, the boy's father Richard released home video of the balloon launch showing the parents launching the balloon and losing, which prompted some people to question why Falcon thought he was in trouble and hid in the attic if he wasn't the one who let the balloon go.
Radio and TV station opinion polls show a majority of people doubt the Heene's story.
