DENVER - On a day when elections in other states broke decisively against Democratic candidates, conservatives rallied at a raucous Tea Party in Civic Center Park, effectively telling Democrats: "You ain't seen nothing yet."
The more than 1,000 attendees expressed their anger towards Democrats on homemade signs, freshly silk-screened T-shirts, and in recurring chants of "U-S-A, U-S-A."
"We're going to lose our country if we don't stand up and fight," said Nikki Mata.
"Government is getting too big and it's standing in our way. And a lot of us sit around and start to feel impotent. But it's empowering to come out to these events and be around like-minded people. And there's power here in these numbers."
Passed through the crowd were voter registration forms and petitions to put various initiatives on the Colorado ballot.
The event was organized by the national Tea Party group, which is conducting a bus tour across the country, making stops in several cities to rally conservatives on the way to Washington D.C., where organizers are planning to protest health care reform bills now making their way through the House and Senate.
