Family struggles to pay for toddler's cancer treatment
LITTLETON, Colo. - Two weeks ago, Crissy Thomas was giving her son Connor, a bath when she noticed something odd. "At the right angle you could see the pupil in his eye glowing like an animal's does in the night when you shine a light on it," said Thomas.

Two days later it was confirmed that 2-year-old Connor had Retinoblastoma, a cancerous tumor in his left eye.

"I'll never forget the feeling, and the helpless feeling when we first got the news that your son has cancer," said John Thomas, Connor's father.

To make matters worse for the Littleton family, John is out of work and without insurance. The family has had to re-finance their home and use most of their 401(k) to pay medical and everyday-life bills.

In two weeks Connor heads back to Philadelphia, where he has been seeing an eye specialist, for yet another appointment and evaluation.

The hope is to save the eye through chemotherapy. If the eye has to be removed, the full-focus shifts to saving his life.
