BOULDER - Wrapped in each other's arms and binoculars in hand, a group of neighbors gathered across the canyon to see what happened.
"Up on Logan. You see that. The ridge is split up," said Tevis Blom.
As the fire raged on, Blom and Scott Bartell could only hope their home would be spared. Many of his neighbors weren't so lucky.
"You have this wall of fire. This enormous wall of fire coming at you and I'm thinking I got to get out of here," said Anna Neur.
Neur left immediately. Her husband, Tom, stayed behind to save whatever he could. They wouldn't reunite until a half hour later.
"The last person evacuated and said you were still up there. They said there was nobody going up there from him," said Anna.
"I just drove through a wall of flames. The bumper is melted off in the front of the van," said Tom.
"I didn't think you were coming back. I thought you were gone because it was so bad," said Anna.
Facing the flames, Tom got out just in time. Minutes later the house was gone.
"I don't care about the house. I'm just glad you're okay," said Anna.
